Diabetic Alert Dog for Marley.

Hi, we are the Heston's, and our granddaughter Marley Dougherty was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes two and a half years ago at only 6 years old. This diagnosis changed her life in an instant. She went from a typical 6-year-old girl to finger sticks, insulin pump changes, Dexcom failures, managing dangerous highs and life-threatening lows. She faces daily struggles with her blood sugar levels.

Type 1 Diabetes is a chronic, unpredictable and complicated autoimmune disease. Since her diagnosis she has required 24-7 care to stay safe and healthy. Her parents have decided that a Diabetic Service dog would be beneficial to help with her around the clock care. Not only would a service dog be able to detect and alert Marley and her family to dangerous changes in her blood sugar, but it would also give Marley a feeling of security and emotional support as she navigates her daily life while living with Type 1 Diabetes.

Acquiring a Diabetic Service dog is expensive and asking for help is hard, but we know this would change Marleys life and are willing to be vulnerable to get her what she needs.
