Devastating Fire Leaves Seniors Homeless

This morning I received a phone call from my parents that their house was on fire , I was in disbelief at first , which shortly turned into worry and empathizm when it hit me that everything they have worked their lives to own , to accumulate , memories , and their way of life has been destroyed in a single moment .

Thankfully and most importantly they are both alive and okay (considering the circumstances) and their second children (3 cats) also survived the fire.

The fire departments of Tugaske , Eyebrow and Central Butte  were some of the most dedicated and inspiring people I have ever heard of. After hearing that my parents had no insurance, extra volunteer firefighters quickly salvaged as many memory items as they could when it was safe to do so. Even going as far as moving an antique China cabinet out a window and removing pictures from walls. The gratitude we feel towards these wonderful people is boundless. Thanks will never be enough.

The dedication of the small town they reside in has all been an  inspiration. With in minutes there was a call to action. A farmer bringing in equipment to remove the burning garage to try and save the house.  Neighbors offering a place to stay and meals. People out looking for beloved family pets, all located and unharmed. They have been surrounded by love and compassion since the fire alarm rang.  My mother says she feels blessed inspite of this tragedy.

Losing their home was hard but with lack of insurance the hardest part is yet to come. Being close to retirement age they are faced with starting over. A very trying task at any age. Going through the pandemic as a small trucking company left them with little for extra resources , and the fire has now taken most everything and left little way to sustain their liveliehood without necessaties to keep what's left going.

We are asking for support to get them back into a home. Being from a family full of hardworking blue-collar guys the labour has already all been donated. We are still needing funds to help with material costs though and every dollar truly will make a difference to them.
