Director’s Statement

Growing up without a parental figure is tough, grappling with identity in secrecy is a deeply isolating experience. Many teenagers found themselves thrust into an unknown territory, stumbling through some pretty rough patches along the way.

But within the chaos, there’s a special kind of beauty. It is a raw, unfiltered exploration of life itself, a crucial step towards adulthood.

DETENTION is a coming-of-age narrative infused with poetic resonance, reflecting the universal journey of self-discovery and maturity.

Synopsis

Andrew (18), finds himself entangled in a web of emotions as he navigates the complexities of unspoken desires for his teacher, Michael (32).

Facing silence and avoidance from Michael, Andrew reaches his breaking point, confronted by the painful reality of unrequited love.
