DeRenzo/Doster Harvey Flood Relief

My sister, Victoria DeRenzo, and her boyfriend, Jared Doster, are both graduate students, enrolled in the dance MFA program at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, about an hour north of downtown Houston.  Like many in the metro area, their lives were dramatically impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey last week. Vicki and Jared lived in a house that was completely inundated and submerged with flood waters during the worst of the storm. The above picture shows their house before the flood waters reached their peak.  


Luckily, they were evacuated by army truck before the waters rose and were able to grab a few essentials (and tap shoes) before moving to safety and sheltering with friends. They have since returned to find the almost complete destruction of their home, two cars, and all other personal possessions, including clothing, furniture, tools, and appliances. Unfortunately, as has been widely reported, 85% of Houstonians—including Vicki and Jared—were living without flood insurance, meaning that the next few months of rebuilding and recovery may prove particularly difficult. 
 
Many of you have graciously offered to help out during this process, so we wanted to create a centralized hub for donations. (A special thanks to those who have already sent money!) Vicki and Jared need all the help they can get as they rebuild their home and recover from this tragic loss. I will be collecting the funds and then transferring them directly to Victoria and Jared. They will be spent to buy furniture and appliances and to pay for car and house damage.
