Who is Dennis?
I hope that all of you have had the delight of knowing Dennis. If so, it's likely either through growing up, churches, his wonderful career, the amazing cities he lived in, or through his family. But no matter how you know him, you know he's a man who loves to make people laugh, is passionate about making finance fun, and more than anything wants to leave people with less burdens than they came to him with.
His Diagnosis:
What some of you also know is that after a spinal surgery to receive relief from shoulder pain, he found out it was actually something far worse than shoulder pain. He was diagnosed with ALS. ALS (or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a disease where nerve cells break down, slowly reducing the functionality of the muscles they supply, until there are no longer any muscles to supply. Where we are at now:
What makes this terrible situation more difficult is that it occurred at the time when Dennis and his wife Kathy would soon be entering retirement. With the transition from short term disability into long term disability, and soon to be retirement, medical bills have accrued as the situation has progressed and evolved. Now he has reached a point where he requires daily hospice care and multiple machines to assist in his ease of comfort.
How can I help?
This fundraiser was started to help remove some of the stress and burden from Dennis and Kathy during an extremely difficult time, and to provide him with the utmost comfort during his remaining time. This money will be used to help provide him better wheelchair parts, to ease his comfort, daily supplies to keep him clean and healthy, help cover his daily assistive care, and ease any financial burdens caused by the increasing medical bills.
Prayers of love and comfort are always an addition help.
