I've been putting this off for too long, so here it goes....
Hello. My name's Casey and I'm writing on behalf of my mother, Pam Yontz. PLEASE PRAY FOR HER!!!! My family is not good at asking for help, especially my parents, so I'm going to do my best. I'm embarrassed to have to ask for money, but there's nothing I wouldn't do for my mom. My dad Clayton, and my sisters Cara & Christie and I, are all sort of losing our minds over her recent diagnosis. She has stage 3 colon cancer. She has a tumor that's inoperable until it shrinks. She begins chemo and radiation tomorrow (12/12/19). She is in so much pain but you would never know it because she's tough as hell! She never complains. She always tries to put on a happy face even though we know she's hurting. She is by far, one of the most incredible women you will ever meet. She is selfless and brave. She's compassionate and fair.
She was a surrogate mother to so many.
She taught us how to swim. Not just Cara, Christie and I, but also tons and tons of our friends & family. She's a big part of the reason my own children could swim before they could run.
She was our tee ball & softball coach. I learned how to slide from my mother and I have to say, because of her I'm a pretty good base runner. She was there the first time so many of us swung a bat, the first time we hit a home run, the first time we made a double-play, or even the first time we got the wind knocked out of us. LOL (fun times)
She was our cheerleading coach. Her and my grandmother started the first all-star cheerleading team in Broward County. We were the Sunrise Spartans back then, soon to be the Sunrise Panthers. My mom is the reason I love to dance, the reason Christie cheered for college and the reason that even today, Cara loves to coach. She was the hand that spotted so many the first time we tried to throw a back-hand-spring or a standing tuck. She was an encouraging face when we competed in our individuals. She was the vote of confidence so many needed to be brave enough to double down, or throw your full for the first time without a spot.
My mom is beautiful in every sense of the word. She's a shoulder to cry on and a listening ear that doesn't pass judgment. She has the ability to make the most dire situation bearable. She was blessed with the gift of being able to keep her shit together when the rest of us are falling apart. :) A trait I fear, I may not have inherited.
She can beat this, I know it in my heart. What I didn't know was the unbelievable amount of medical bills she would rack up. My parents are retired and live on a fixed income. My mom's insurance is crap and she has a $5,000.00 deductible for now. That's not even taking into consideration the mountain of bills she's incurred already, and her treatment hasn't even begun. The stress of trying to figure out how to pay for all of this is devastating.
Here's where the "asking" comes in. Whether you know us or not, we really need your help. Please, even if you only have a dollar to spare, it would mean just as much as a thousand. My mom in the most important woman in our lives & we're not ready to lose her. She can fight the cancer, but she can't fight the bills. Share this with as many people as you can and please pray for my mom.
Thank you so much for reading! My sisters and I really appreciate your help!
