David Hawthorne

Donation protected
David Hawthorne, a consummate bowmaker, composer, musician, and teacher, has been making bows for more than 40 years. In late October, he underwent emergency surgery for a brain tumor, and he had only learned of the tumor 24 hours prior. This sudden realization upended his life and livelihood. Every aspect of his person has been impacted. David is a fine craftsperson of the highest caliber, and he is a leader in his field. Although he is improving, it is difficult to make an accurate prognosis. We are unsure of whether he will be able to work again. Donations will be used for the ongoing care, treatment, and rehabilitation needed for him to make a strong and enduring recovery.

As a long-time family friend, I am organizing this fundraiser on David’s behalf. We have included a link to his website as well as a feature in Strings Magazine which, together, offer a view into his life’s work and the profound impact he has had on his communities, clients, and protégés from around the world.
