Brain Surgery for Cy Raymond

My grandson,  Cy Raymond,  started having seizures and learning issues at age 12 and it was determined he had a lesion in the brain called a cavernous angioma,  causing him to have small bleeds  which then left a hemosiderin  ring in the brain. This iron deposit remains around the lesion in the brain causing irritation and in Cy's case, the intractable epilepsy.   Cy has  had hundreds upon hundreds of seizures over the last six years. A few weeks ago the lesion had a significant systematic bleed, causing Cy to have a grand maul seizure, and putting him in an immediate much  higher risk for stroke.  After years of forming relationships with other patients with angiomas and researching the surgeons, his parents took him to see a top neurovascular surgeon in Chicago who made it very clear that surgery is critical for the best outcome. The first goal is to remove the risk of future strokes  and the second goal is to greatly reduce or eliminate, with a lifetime of meds, the seizures. They are having the surgery done at the university of Chicago hospital and will need to spend an additional two weeks in a hotel within a five minute drive from the hospital  before Cy would be released to return to Colorado. Any donations will go toward the medical bills and travel expenses incurred by the family and would be a blessing.
