Culinary Team Canada represents Canada on the world culinary stage.  Just as with sport, the Culinary Olympics (IKA) are held every 4 years with the Culinary World Cup, also held every 4 years in the years between the Olympics.  (Similar to the Winter and Summer games)  Teams are selected 3-4 years in advance of the competition and members selected from across Canada.  The team hold practices in a central location, where all members fly in to meet and practice together about every 6-8 weeks.  As you might imagine, the travel costs can quickly add up even with sponsors helping to cover some of the costs.  Then  there is the cost of food for each practice as well as the costs to fly and house the entire team to the events in Europe.  This gets very costly.  Unlike sport, there is no Canadian Olympic Committee that supports this group of Olympians, nor is there government support available. 

Given the lack of organized support, the team is left to fund themselves through acquiring corporate sponsors and private individuals like you.
