Hi my name is Rihanna, as a first year Animal Health student at the University Of Alberta, I am working toward my dream of becoming a veterinarian. This year, I have luckily been granted the opportunity to travel abroad to Peru for a spring internship with VAW Global Health Alliances to gain hands-on clinical experience while supporting and uplifting communities in need. Through this internship, we will assist local veterinarians in providing care to their patients, as well as have the opportunity to learn and experience Peruvian culture. This experience not only strengthens clinical skills and cultural understanding, but also shapes the kind of compassionate and adventurous veterinarian I one day hope to become.
