What did you do on your summer vacation??  Well...

In early June, Craig was involved in a bad car accident that altered the course of our lives forever.  Craig's spinal cord was injured, though not severed, and for now, though we hope not forever, Craig is wheelchair-bound with no use of his legs and limited use of his arms and hands.  It's hard just to write that.

As we prepare for Craig's homecoming, the reality of the  expenses in front of us is taking hold.  Also in the mix is that our house, as much as I love it, was not designed for accessibility.  We embarked on a plan to renovate only a small portion which would give Craig access to a bathroom and a shower, but the estimate for that work came in at more than half of a plausible down payment on another house.

Before Craig's accident, we had begun looking for a new house for a number of reasons.  We have now returned to that plan, albeit with different goals - fewer bay windows, fireplaces and built-in book shelves, and instead, wider doorways.

One of the hardest things for me to do in this world is ask for help.  Asking for money adds layers onto that.  But for those of you who have asked what we need, whether and how you can help, if a few dollars would be useful, the answer is yes.
