Covid19 Appeal for Barnardos

We are Karen & Ronan, co-owners of an architectural practice and we want to try and reach as many children who are in in dire need of help with art packs and supplies to take their minds off the very stressful situations they find themselves in at the moment living in vulnerable circumstances. Watching the news recently we were shocked to learn of the waiting list of over 600 families who require critical and intensive support from Barnardos, many of those in very unsuitable and distressing circumstances. Many of these families were already living in stressful situations and are now experiencing a pressure cooker effect – children are living with domestic abuse, parental mental health challenges, neglect, acrimonious separation and family breakdown and addiction – now with no escape.  As architects we understand the restorative power of art and the therapeutic benefits of sketching and painting. Research has also shown that creating visual art can reduce stress and promote relaxation in those housebound. With so many children housebound at the moment and particularly for those living in a very stressful home we decided that we had to do something to help these children and their families to ease the stress. We are holding a raffle on Monday May 4th for a €400 Monart Voucher. This voucher was gifted to Karen last year, but due to family ill health Karen has been unable to use it. So we came together and decided that we would raffle it off to raise as much money as we could for art packs and supplies to be purchased by Barnardos. One lucky winner from the donations made will be chosen at random. We love this quote from a child ' If you are feeling blue paint yourself a different colour' Thank you for your support.
