Courtney Horwath-Oliver's Cancer Battle

On Thursday, August 18, our daughter Courtney was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer that has metastasized in her spine and skull and invaded her lymph nodes. She has innumerable lesions throughout her skeleton. Furthermore, she suffers from pleural effusion in which her lungs are surrounded by fluid that must be regularly drained to keep her lungs from collapsing.

Courtney is determined to fight and prevail over her illness and is most of all inspired by her 4-year-old son Oskar and her 2-year-old daughter Ember. She loves them more than words can describe. Courtney is a tough-as-nails Alaskan woman with a deep passion and love for people. As a psychologist and professional counselor, she has journeyed alongside many children and their families in their path to emotional, mental, and spiritual healing.

She has been overwhelmed by the support and assistance from her family and friends as she has been in the hospital or at doctor appointments daily.

Courtney is seeking treatment that will give her the best opportunity to have quality of life, and with that in mind, she chose Envita Medical Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. Envita specializes in advanced integrative personalized oncology, and they cannot receive reimbursement from insurance for most of the treatments they provide. The cost of her treatment is expected to exceed $225,000.
