Cory Johnson Medical Help
Cory was taken to the Hereford ER on February 28, 2022 with a rapid heartbeat, slurred speech and not getting better after being diagnosed with Strep and Covid. The ER doctors ordered blood work and a CT scan. The CT scan showed a liver abscess, and the bloodwork showed he was in Sepsis. It had spread throughout his body, and his kidneys were starting to shut down. The doctors contacted Baylor Scott and White All Saints in Ft. Worth since he had a liver transplant in 2010, and they made arrangements for Cory to be transferred by airplane. I decided to drive, and his parents would follow me to Fort Worth the following day. While in Fort Worth, the doctors did lots of bloodwork and started antibiotics to treat the abscess. They decided the best treatment would be to insert a drain into the abscess. Cory was sent home 10 days later with a drain and PICC line to administer the IV antibiotics. He has been home and has a Home Health nurse come 2-3 times a week. He will have many follow-up doctor appointments in 10-12 weeks. During this time, he is unable to work. The money raised would help his family with household bills, medical bills, doctor appointments, and travel back and forth to Ft. Worth.
