The coronavirus has had a dire impact on New York. While many work from the comfort of their own homes, essential workers are still risking their safety daily to take the subway.
Lots of people who want to help have left the city. Since there is no easy way to purchase a MetroCard remotely, we are setting up this GoFundMe to bridge the gap. Donations will be spent on MetroCards that CoronaMetro will mail directly to people in need.
Other metropolitan areas have made public transit free during this crisis, but in NYC, the subway and express buses still cost the same as usual. CoronaMetro seeks to alleviate some of this burden by linking up people in need of MetroCards to people who can donate in their communities.
