Beit e'Shai Teahouse is excited to host an important event on 'Land, Biodiversity & the Colony' with Professor Mazin Qumsiyeh from Bethlehem, alongside First Nations scholars Zena Cumpston & Tristen Harwood.
Speakers include:
Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh is a Palestinian scientist & author, founder & director of the Palestine Museum of Natural History (PMNH) and the Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) at Bethlehem University where he teaches.
Zena Cumpston is a Barkandji woman with Afghan, Irish and English heritage. Zena works as a writer, artist, curator and researcher. She was co author of several chapters of the Federal government’s 2021 State of the Environment report and is a co author of ‘Plants: past present future’ as part of the First Knowledges series. Zena's multidisciplinary practice is centred around protecting and celebrating Country and community.
Tristen Harwood (Ngalakgan) is a writer, critic, and editor, publishing locally and internationally on art and architecture. He lectures in Critical and Theoretical Studies at the Victorian College of the Arts and is currently undertaking his PhD.
This fundraiser will allow us to host an accessible community event here in Naarm (Melbourne) and help us cover the bulk of expenses including;

This fundraiser is raising money for an event we are hosting on Thursday 9th May 2024, from 6-8:30pm at Aunty Alma's Gathering Place in Preston.
