Come Celebrate and Honor Shawn's Life!

The Harden Family welcomes friends, family members, and individuals who have known Shawn and we invite you to donate funds to support his funeral expenses.

Shawn Harden's fundraising goal is being increased to $10,600 - this is the magic number for these expenses. We are welcoming anyone attending services to wear a Jurassic Park T-shirt and bring birthday cards instead of farewell cards. We'll be celebrating his birthday in our home on February 1st and will read these cards.

A strict mask and hand sanitizing rule will be enforced on the day of his services.

Shawn Michael Harden blessed our family on February 1, 1993 and has departed our family on January 19, 2022 at the age of 28. He was surrounded and loved by his immediate family members (mother Dolores Harden, father Johnson Harden, brother Brandon Yazzie, brother Justin Harden, and sister Cassandra Harden). We expressed our support for him to continue his journey with our creator, blessed him with our love and protection as he entered heaven.

 

He graduated from Piedra Vista High School and was baptized at Mesa View Baptist Church in Farmington, New Mexico. Over the years he has traveled with family members to the National Down Syndrome Congress Annual Convention and to The Arc National Convention to represent and advocate for individuals with disabilities. His voice was a silent one, but his presence was a loud one that amplified his spirit for himself and others.

 

 

He has traveled to national parks, camped, and played sports. Growing up he was on the Special Olympics Team for bowling and track. He participated in the Rein Dance Association where he learned to care for and ride horses. He has earned numerous awards for his athletic participation.

Shawn loved to dance and jam out to music with his headphones. One time when we attended the National Down Syndrome Convention in Denver, CO he danced the night away. We didn’t get back to our room until 2:00am, he had moves for days.

 

Shawn will always be remembered most for his smiles, joy, and love for films. He loved collecting films on VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray, and Digital Copy. His favorites included Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Wizard of Oz, and Toy Story. He also loved to organize his movie collection and re-arrange his bedroom furnishings. He wore his Jurassic Park shirt proudly, even if he wore it all month.

 

Shawn enjoyed eating McDonald's (cheeseburgers), BBQ Chicken with Mashed Potatoes, Breakfast, and loved Coca-Cola. He also enjoyed decorating the Christmas cookies every year and would place an abundance of sprinkles on each cookie. Each one was delicious because they were especially made by him.

Christmas was his favorite holiday, this past Christmas he received four new Jurassic Park t-shirts to add to his collection. It was such a happy time to see him open his presents. We will honor his memory by wearing his Jurassic Park shirts with pride!

 

Shawn has been loved and cherished for a beautiful 28 years. His life will be celebrated with his memories, laughter, and smiles. We can hear him saying, “Oh Yeah!” with a huge thumbs up.

We love you and we will miss you greatly Shawn!
