Obrera Centro somos un espacio cultural independiente, construido desde la autogestión y sostenido por y para artistas. Desde 2014 trabajamos para mantener un lugar abierto, accesible y vivo, donde las ideas, los afectos y las prácticas creativas se encuentren sin jerarquías. Creemos en el poder de los vínculos y en la necesidad de crear alternativas para la reflexión, el goce y las prácticas políticas desde la imaginación y la colectividad.
Durante más de diez años, hemos buscado formas de sostener el proyecto sin perder nuestra esencia: hacer posible un espacio artístico libre y fértil sin responder a agendas institucionales. Gracias a esa convicción, Obrera Centro se ha vuelto casa, taller, escuela, refugio, comedor y laboratorio para cientos de artistas, colectivos y comunidades.
Dentro de este ecosistema se sostiene la HerratecA, una comunidad de préstamo de herramientas gratuita y colaborativa, un ejercicio económico donde compartimos materiales de carpintería, arte, audiovisuales, etc. Una apuesta por el bien común, por cuidar entre todxs los recursos que nos permiten crear, reparar y construir.
Nuestro proyecto se sostiene gracias a la colaboración, la autogestión y el apoyo desinteresado de muchas personas. A través de la confianza y compromiso de generosos acompañamientos económicos, en los últimos años hemos podido mantener y ampliar el alcance del proyecto, beneficiando a más de 2,300 personas, de forma directa y presencial, cada año. Sin embargo, la gestión de recursos es un esfuerzo continuo, que no tiene asegurado el futuro del espacio y que constantemente nos lleva a un lugar de inestabilidad. Actualmente necesitamos reforzar estos esfuerzos, ya que los costos han aumentado considerablemente por diferentes motivos.

¿Qué buscamos con esta campaña?
Nuestro objetivo es reunir $450.000 pesos, que se destinarán a:
- Pagar un porcentaje mensual de la renta anual, que ha ido incrementándose y que los apoyos que nos acompañan ya no son suficientes.
- Saldar gastos legales y administrativos, indispensables para mantener la legalidad y funcionamiento del proyecto.
- Mejorar la infraestructura, incluyendo accesos, reparaciones en baños y áreas comunes, y mejoras en instalaciones de luz y gas.
- Financiar la apertura y cuidado de la HerratecA, que busca abrir el espacio una vez por semana para encuentros de producción y trabajo para quienes no tienen acceso a uno.
- Mantener y reemplazar herramientas dañadas, además de invertir en infraestructura de la HerratecA para mayor seguridad y funcionalidad.
- Ampliación y renovación de la cocina, pieza clave del proyecto que funciona como un espacio de encuentro afectivo para la comunidad.

Obrera Centro is an independent cultural space built through self-management and sustained by and for artists.
Since 2014, we have worked to maintain an accessible, open space where ideas, emotions, and creative practices converge without hierarchy.
We believe in the power of connection, as well as the urgent need of creating spaces for reflection, joy, and political action through imagination and collectivity.
For over ten years, we have found ways to sustain this project without losing our essence: to create a free and fertile artistic space independent of institutional agendas. Thanks to this conviction, Obrera Centro has become a home, workshop, school, shelter, kitchen, and laboratory for hundreds of artists, collectives, and communities.
Within this community is la HerratecA, a free, collaborative tool-lending cooperative and an economic and creative experiment where we share materials for carpentry, art, and audiovisual work. It is a commitment to the commons and to collectively caring for the resources that enable us to create, repair, and build.
Our project has been sustained through collaboration, selfmanagement, and the generous support of many people. Thanks to the trust and commitment of our financial contributors, we have been able to maintain and expand our reach, benefiting more than 2,300 people directly each year.
However, resource management is an ongoing effort. The future of the space is never guaranteed, and rising costs have put us in a fragile position.
This time, in order to continue, we need your help. We invite you to collaborate with us to ensure this space continues to exist.
What are we raising funds for?
Our goal is to raise $450,000 MXN, which will go toward:
- Covering part of our annual rent, which has been steadily increasing and can no longer be fully supported by our current funding.
- Paying essential legal and administrative expenses to keep the project running smoothly and legally.
- Improving our facilities — including better access, repairs to bathrooms and common areas, and upgrades to the electricity and gas systems.
- Opening and maintaining HerratecA, which aims to open weekly for production and work sessions for those without access to a workspace.
- Repairing and replacing damaged tools, and investing in HerratecA’s infrastructure to make it safer and more functional.
- Expanding and renewing the kitchen — a key part of our project and a heartwarming meeting place for the community.
