Coady is many things, a friend, a Mum to her fur baby Olive, a medical student, and the most compassionate, intelligent soul in this world.

Coady also battles an amalgamation of rare and complex illnesses, including various vascular compression syndromes, characterised by extrinsic compression of veins or arteries by surrounding structures.

Essentially, this means Coady’s blood vessels are squeezed by nearby structures in her body. Unfortunately, the extent of her disease has exposed Coady to a lifetime of serious complications and risks to her health.

In recent months, Coady’s health has declined to a point of no return. Devastatingly, at the age of 24, Coady has exhausted every treatment, none of which have been successful in supplying her with a degree of quality of life, least of all curing her disease.

In an act of courage and exhaustion, most will never truly understand, Coady has faced the approaching end of her life and has transitioned to palliative care.

Palliative care is often misunderstood or confused with hospice care. Palliative care refers to person and family-centred treatment, care and support for people living with a life-limiting illness. A life-limiting illness is an active, progressive, or advanced disease, that has little or no prospect of cure and that you're likely to die from at some point in the future.

Coady is currently in organ failure, her heart being most significantly compromised. She is too sick to leave her home. But her exact timeline, like all those receiving palliative care, is unknown.

At a time when she deserves to rest her exhausted body peacefully, Coady is weighed down by immense financial strain. She has applied for support via the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), but receiving this support is arduous, depleting and long-lasting. The reality that Coady may pass away before she’s granted this support is real. In the meantime, she is expected to pay privately for the services she cannot survive without (e.g. an at-home nurse, medical equipment and supplies, etc.) This is a financial impossibility for her.

No one should be forced to be preoccupied by financial stress during a time like this.

Let’s draw on the power of our humanity to support Coady at the end of her life. Coady hasn’t known peace in a long time. She deserves nothing more than to be reminded of it feels like.

Please help us relieve the additional layer of pressure suffocating Coady right now. Selflessly, in addition to helping provide comfort and easing present financial anxiety, she'd love this money to support her family by reducing the costs and burden associated with a funeral. Coady is also deeply invested in leaving a legacy behind, particularly one that infiltrates the world of medicine, which she has always been called to. So we're both brainstorming ways to do that. Mark my world, this girl's life will change the world, even if the impact exists long after her physical presence does.
