Clyde Mountaineering Club (a Glasgow-based mountaineering club) have convinced 24 of our (potentially foolhardy) members to attempt a relay of the West Highland Way on February 1st 2025, all in aid of Scottish Mountain Rescue (SMR).

SMR represents 25 MRTs made up of highly trained volunteers. They have to respond in a moments notice to help total strangers - often in the middle of the night and in poor conditions. They save lives in Scotland every year - and we're proud to be able to find a way to give back to the people who help us feel safer on the hills and in winter.

We will be running the 155km classic route (which is normally completed in 5 days) as a sequence of 14 back-to-back segments ranging from 5 to 22 kilometres. To help us understand what it must be like going out for the MR teams, we'll be doing the route in February and running through the night. We'll begin at midnight in Milngavie and should all go well we'll be in Fort William as the sun sets.
