My name is Cathy Bickham. I am the mother of a beautiful daughter, Christy Worthington. On the morning of Sunday, October 16, 2016, I woke up early and as usual, I went into my daughter's room to check in on her. To my horror, I found my daughter's body on the floor. When I went to check on her, she had already left this world. As I screamed for her to wake up, I woke up her 11-year-old only son in the other room. I tried to shield him, but he's so grown up! As I tried to pull myself together, this handsome, loving, male version of his mother called 911. The rest of the day became a blur of questions that her father and I, along with my husband were not prepared to answer. What funeral home, where would we want to bury her, etc.... It still hasn't completely sunk in.
Unfortunately, due to medical issues of our own, we have no access to the kind of funds they tell me it will take to have a service and to lay her to rest. We need to say goodbye to our daughter and her son needs to have that closure that only a proper service and burial will provide.
Obviously, time is of the essence. The funeral home says they have no payment plans and can not or will not release her back to us until we can pay them for certain services they have already completed. There is no way a bank will loan us the funds as we are already overextended with medical bills . Most of our family we can usually rely upon, have lost jobs and homes in the recent floods and everyone is strapped down financially as they try to bring some sense of normalcy back to their own lives.
I know times are hard on everyone right now, especially with the recent flooding; however, if anyone could help us, it would mean everything to us and more than us, her little boy who is already desperately missing his mother.
