Help Chris Gillard clear his volunteering debts
Don protégé
If you don't know Chris personally, you know his voice. If you're a Powerlifter in England, regardless of federation or level, you know his voice. Because he either spotted you at your comp, was on the mic at your comp, ran you through the rules at your comp, ran the table at your comp. He probably shared one of your PBs on @gb_powerlifting_support_group whether you've competed or not. This man has gone out of his way every weekend for the last year. Has has driven over 8000 miles to volunteer at 35 competitions for a total of 54 days this year alone (at his own expense the vast majority of the time). He has run courses to learn how to spot & load, brainstormed ways to make the sport better and has opened himself and his page up as a safe space for people to talk and seek support for their mental health. He has done this entirely out of his love for the sport. He has been endlessly selfless and continues to be, at monetary, physical and mental cost to himself. Just this week in spite of significant illness meaning he hasn't slept in 3 days and his car breaking down Chris still did his best to MC at the Super Training Christmas meet. Not only did it take AA 8 hours to come and recover Chris, his son and his car but due to them declaring it an accident rather than a recovery he has had to pay over £600 to get home with his kid tonight. He deserves our help.
He'd rather I not be writing this but I haven't given him a choice.A community that doesn't take care of its own is no community at all and Chris is a pillar of this community.
Whatever you can donate to help balance the scales would be greatly appreciated.
