Chobham CC - Championship 25 Project

Based in the centre of Chobham village our cricket club has 3 adult teams playing weekends and 25 junior teams playing matches throughout the summer. Our club has been playing cricket in the village since at least 1844 (records a bit scarce before that!), and it's safe to say it has had a bit of a rollercoaster ride when it comes to highs and lows. We are very community focused and so lucky to enjoy our beautiful ground in the heart of the village behind the White Hart pub.

The past few seasons have seen a tremendous amount of effort put in by volunteers and players alike to lift our 1st XI back into the Surrey Championship with a young side developed from our junior section with the long-term success of the club in mind.

We are delighted to announce that - with 4 promotions in successive years culminating with becoming Surrey County League, Premier Division Champions this year - we have achieved our first milestone.... Playing in the the Surrey Championship in 2025 brings the highest level of league cricket back to the village, and hopefully more players and local support through a positive story for the village as a whole!

So why are we launching a fundraiser?? Our next step is to get our ground and facilities to the standard required for playing in the Surrey Championship and National Village Cup competitions in 2025. Whilst our pavilion does meet the requirements we need to invest in our square and outfield to support higher level cricket. We also need to accommodate the growth in the number of junior fixtures we’re playing with the excellent boys and girls teams that underpin our future.

The costs associated with our “Championship25” project approach £25k. As a result of careful stewardship the club can invest a good proportion of this, but we would welcome some help from the local community. We are hosting the 'JonFest' festival on the 21st September from 1pm on our outfield, which will see a number of bands perfoming with the CC Bar, The Horse and Groom, BBQ and Pizza Van supplying all the necessary acoutrements for a successful music festival! JonFest is running in parallel with the Chobham Show, and is free for all local residents. It would be great to see as many people there as possible, and if you could spare a small amount to support your local cricket club on GoFundMe then all donations would be greatly appreciated.
