Chiropractic Service Trip: Arequipa, Peru

Thank you for checking out my campaign for my upcoming service trip to Arequipa, Peru! After 2+ years in a classroom setting, I am fast approaching the completion of my 7th (out of 10) trimester at Parker University, College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas. I am so incredibly fortunate to have found such a passion in this healing art. I have observed and experienced the PROFOUND POWER and healing potential of Chiropractic, and I cannot wait to share it with the world!

Chiropractic, meaning “by hand only”, focuses on and assesses the function of the Central Nervous System(CNS) through palpation and analysis of the spine and surrounding tissues. Your CNS controls every tissue cell within your body and demands a free flow of communication for OPTIMAL LIFE EXPRESSION. An interruption to this line of communication (from brain to tissue cell) is called a “SUBLUXATION”. Subluxations, meaning “less light expression”, are what we Chiropractors assess and remove by utilizing a gentle, ultra-specific force that the body uses to adapt and reorganize, resulting in more optimal brain-body communication and function.
Where does this interference come from? Good question! Subluxation’s are the body’s intelligent attempt to adapt to three primary types of stressors: traumas, toxins, or thoughts; from your internal or external environment. Let’s nerd out for a minute: the first law of thermodynamics states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, only transferred or stored. So when your body is introduced to one of these three stressors(3 T’s), the energy introduced may be either transferred through the body, or stored within it. Whichever occurs is dependent upon the bodies current state of adaptability. This adaptability is determined by the state of your Autonomic Nervous System(ANS). The two branches of the ANS are the sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (rest, digest, build, and create) systems. In today’s stressful, fast-paced society, most of our time is spent in sympathetic drive (fight or flight), and as a result, makes you less adaptable to change and stress, storing un-integrated energy randomly in the body. The long term storage of potential energy becomes well known places of tension, strain, pain, and stiffness; places of overall dis-ease. Over time these changes can become pathological, leading to premature degeneration and wreak cellular havoc. This is part of how disease processes begin.
This is where Chiropractic comes in! Skilled Chiropractors discover subluxations (commonly referred to as “joint restriction”), implement a specific force (associated with the popping sound), restoring proper motion (energy transfer), and providing the body a second opportunity to utilize this energy in a constructive manner. This process is GLOBAL and changes the entire body. Chiropractic helps down regulate (shuts down) the sympathetic system and UP REGULATE (kick starts) the PARA-SYMPATHETIC system, where true health, healing, and growth occurs!

Needing only a table and our hands, 16 of my peers and I will be providing free Chiropractic care to several less-fortunate communities surrounding Arequipa city. This is where I NEED YOUR HELP! I am using this campaign to help raise the $2000 needed to cover the expenses of the trip. This includes domestic and international flights, transportation, lodging(7 nights), food, and water. ANY AMOUNT WILL HELP!! I will be so grateful for any and all contributions and support. You will be assisting in providing me the opportunity to serve LIFE CHANGING care to a large number of people in a short amount of time.
