Chicago Heart Surgery: Support for our Mom and Dad

As many know, our mom has a heart condition which has already put her through two open heart surgeries. One surgery repaired a valve, and then more recently in 2024, she had the valve replaced in Chicago IL by an incredible surgeon who took on her case. This provided some relief. Throughout this year, she has been in and out of the hospital sometimes for weeks at a time. The medication is no longer doing it's job.

Last week, our mom was rushed to the hospital. Her valves are no longer the issue. Her heart ventricle is no longer strong enough to pump the blood and she needs another open heart surgery to stabilize her. There may be more surgeries after this one. The surgeon in Chicago is the best. However, this comes with major life changes for my parents.

It will require them to move to Chicago for a minimum of a year. It will require my Dad to take time off from work as he is not retired. He will need housing as well until they can return home.

All these changes and not much time to process or plan. They will be airlifting her by medical transport very soon.

Our Mom is only 63 and has gone thru so much, all with a positive atttitude. She's the best Mom anyone could ask for. Shes been our biggest supporters and raised us kids to always take care of each other. She's an amazing wife. Our parents have been together since high school, pretty much their entire lives. They are each other's best friends. She loves being a grandmother and always there to lend a hand without ever being asked.
