Cherie Messina's Cancer Treatment

Recently Cherie has started a very new, and very challenging chapter. In January, she was diagnosed with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. This is a rare bile duct cancer that only affects 8,000 people a year globally. While aggressive and stage 4, everything is contained in her liver. She has some of the best doctors in the nation working with her, and they have an amazing plan to get her a transplant. She is extremely positive, but she also is aware of the reality of her situation. She has a strong and positive support system, and is surrounded by family and friends as she goes through this journey. She started chemotherapy on 2/7/24.

In June of 2022, the Messina Family lost their husband and father, Timothy Messina to liver cancer. This journey challenged us. It changed us and everything around us all at once. This meant that a household of three children and a mother was down to a singular source of income. Two children (Abigail and Andrew) are away at college, and Catherine is living at home. This makes the affordability of things, like current cancer treatment, a challenge.

All this said, the only thing we ask, is for prayers. For shrinking tumors, strength, stabilization, positivity, wellness, and being able to qualify for a transplant. For those wishing to go the extra mile, we have started this fundraiser for Cherie, and making the economic challenge of this process, a little easier for her.
