Chemeketa Trans Teen Needs Financial Support
Spende geschützt
I am a part-time instructor of English at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon. Growing up, I had no exposure to the LGBTQ+ Community, so when I moved to Oregon, I decided to become involved by becoming Adviser for two Gender and Sexuality Alliances at Community Colleges. I have learned a lot, and have become a better person through the kind patience of students who were willing to look beyond my ignorance and educate me.
Over the past year, I have become acquainted with a young trans man, a student at Chemeketa. They have found themselves in a pickle. They desperately need funds for a vehicle which can serve as both transportation and a place to call "home".
During this time of social upheaval and crisis, there is little I can do to help in general. However, I believe together we can help this student specifically.
I have no clue what it is like to be trans. But I know a shaky situation when I see one. This student needs assistance quickly, to remove themselves from a distressing situation (I'll let the context of this story speak for itself).
Oh, and they are a stellar student, leader and advocate. They just can't be those things honestly and completely within their current situation.
Please help this fellow human student. If I could afford it, I'd buy him a car myself.
