CHASE-ing a CURE for CHASE

We found out today that our sweet boy has to fight this horrible battle again for a 6th time. Chase is an 11 year old boy in 6th grade who has been fighting cancer his entire life! He finished his latest round of treatment 15 months ago. And today, they found a new tumor in his 4th ventricle. Chase has terminal, grade 3 metastatic anaplastic ependymoma. While there is no known cure for Chase's cancer, he is committed to fighting the good fight. We know he is going to kick cancer right in the @$$ again but we need your help! Cancer is very expensive! We are looking into clinical trials. He needs another mri of his spine, a lumbar puncture and surgery. And then whatever treatment following. This causes myself and my husband to miss work, we take turns and alternate who takes him and who goes to work each day. We also have 3 other kids in the mix who need to be cared for as well. I know times are tough for everyone, but anything you can donate would be a huge help! All money raised will go directly to chases treatment. Please share this to your social media pages as well. On 9/18/2013 our then 12 month old son Chase was diagnosed with a grade 3 anaplastic Ependymoma, brain cancer. He had surgery and radiation which declared him No evidence of disease. For 2 1/2 years we had great MRI's and then we heard the dreaded words, "your son's cancer is back". At this point we decided on surgery again, radiation and 6 months of high dose chemo. Treatments lasted about 1 year and he was back to no evidence of disease. 1 year later, we heard those dreaded words again although this time they informed us his cancer had metastisized and there was no longer a chance at a cure. We removed his tumor with surgery and did more radiation. He was great for 2 more years and then for a 3rd time we were told his cancer is back and this time there is 2 new tumors with further metastasis. We opted to do a clinical trial in Washington DC which required us to travel there and stay for 1 week a month every month for a year. Well, it went better than we could have ever hoped for and both tumors disappeared! We completed the trial and came off treatment. Chase was again no evidence of disease for a year. 8 weeks ago during a routine MRI, they found a new tumor, his 6th overall. He has since had a lumbar puncture to determine if his spinal fluid had cancer cells in it or not. The neurosurgeon stated he would not operate if that test came back positive for cancer cells. By the grace of God it came back negative so the surgeon has agreed to do surgery! Chase will be undergoing an intense brain surgery in the next few weeks to attempt to remove the tumor and will follow that with 6 1/2 weeks of radiation (33 days). He will likely have a lengthy hospital stay causing myself and my husband to miss quite a bit of work during the surgery and for his radiation treatments. We will be alternating whos at work and who is with Chase. Although we have pretty good insurance, his hospital stays and treatments are thousands of dollars out of pocket. This is why we call him our million-dollar baby! Although he is worth every single penny, pennies don't quite stretch as far as we need them to. Any help that you could give would be a HUGE blessing to our family! We so appreciate everything our family, friends and community have done for us, we are calling on you again for some much-needed help! 100% of every penny raised will go directly to the care and treatment of Chase.
