Charles (aka Liberace) Friendly Feral Recovery

Hi, my name is Adrienne. I and my neighbor Sandy, take care of a feral colony in our neighborhood. We have trapped, neutered and released, and rehomed, too many kitties to keep track of, but we need your help. On 4.27.23, this sweet kitty was severely abused by a human. He has a large wound to his R rear flank, that required internal and external stitches. This wound also has a burn component to it, so we know he suffered during this attack and continues to show signs of trauma and shock. (We are working with animal services in an investigation to find the culprit). Here he is on post-op day 6.

In this attack, he also suffered a large laceration to his R inner thigh and lost completely one of his claws, and possibly another, but he got away. He has lived as a feral for about 8 years, with one other feral, his good buddy, Blackjack, between our two patios, with quite fancy setups! My neighbor Sandy has been amazing at socializing these two kitties over the years, to the point that they both go in her home and in fact, Charlie is about 90% indoors now, with Blackjack getting more and more used to the indoors each day.

Charlie is in shock; he's had two ER visits, and he needed another ER visit because he's not taking enough food or water on his own, but all of our area ERs have been on divert. So as a result, Sandy and her family have been force-feeding him with nutrients and water via syringe, and it's working, he's slowly turning the corner. Charlie is such a sweet cat, with a great story of survival, trust, persistence and love. We humbly ask for any support you feel you could offer. If by chance we exceed this goal, additional funds will be used for Charlie's ongoing vet visits due to this injury (there will be more) and potentially doing a TNR for one more feral.
