Help Trish beat Cancer - Easter Fundraiser

Our valued manager Trish…

Trish was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer 2years ago, despite the routine checks this was actually found when she suffered from sudden kidney failure and spent some time in hospital. Trish took some time off work to undergo chemotherapy, radiotherapy and brachytherapy. Once finishing treatment she rang the cancer bell and worked on trying to resume a normal life although given the news that she would never get the all clear but the tumour was under control. Trish got married in September ’23 and phased her return back to full time at work where she excels in her role as deputy manager, shifts with trish have the best organisation and structure and the team really admire her strength!

Unfortunately, in February ‘24 Trish was told the cancer had spread and she needed to start another therapy treatment. This was done straight away, and sadly despite best efforts Trish’s incredible locks of hair have been lost. Leading up to her second round of treatment, Trish became unwell and was hospitalised after losing a lot of blood very quickly. This was because of a hole that had occurred in a capillary by her kidney.

The team at Thornbury would like to help raise some funds to help Trish in her recovery. She deserves nothing, but the best and luck just isn’t going her way.

We have a few fundraising events lined up in our store and we'd love the community to help us over this Easter period.

On Sunday the 24th of March we will be doing an Easter egg hunt for the kids between 9.30 and 10am in the style of supermarket sweep. There will be 5 small eggs and a bunny for each ticket (keep your eye out for any inflatables for a bonus chocolate reward.) Tickets can be bought in store or on the day for £1! There will be an opportunity to throw a wet sponge at the store manager for a small donation. A few of the team will be shaving their hair off to encourage donations. The Easter bunny should be in store to take a picture with and the staff will be dressing up in support of the fundraising. We also have a raffle, ON SALE NOW. £2 per strip with 2 amazing prizes on offer

: a huge hamper of chocolate goods donated by all of our team and all the trimmings for an Easter Meal : Lamb leg, red wine, all the veg.

Please come along and support us in fundraising for Trish, we'd like to do as well as we did last time with this and the community did amazingly well a few years back when we supported her then.
