To say we are heartbroken by the loss of our dear, Jeni Peterson, is an understatement. If you were lucky enough to have met her, you know she was one of a kind and irreplaceable.
Just a year ago, Jen, Dan, and their youngest, Shea, moved from Stewartville, MN to Clermont, FL to live out their dream of living under the warm Florida sun. They found their dream house and were so happy.
However, things quickly changed when Jen started to not feel well at the end of March. She began the doctoring process, and after many tests, she was given the diagnosis of Adenocarcinoma - cancer of unknown origin that presented in the colon, with additional complications within her abdomen, on April 11th. At that point she was still hopeful and was awaiting the follow-up with the cancer team. Unfortunately, things progressed quickly. Her pain and suffering intensified, and she was admitted to the hospital where she stayed for 12 days. There she was told they had no known treatment plan for her aggressive rare diagnoses. Jeni was discharged to home on hospice care, while they waited until they could meet with a cancer team to get a second opinion. After being home for a few days, things worsened for her, and she was taken to another hospital that specialized in cancer where they had hoped for a treatment plan. Instead, she was told there was nothing more they could do except to provide palliative care. She remained there until she passed away in the loving arms of her husband, Dan, her three boys, Shea, 12, Riley, 20, and Ashton, 21, and the rest of their close family members on May 16th.
Dan never left her side throughout this time. He missed well over a month of work with more days being added. Jen’s income no longer available puts Dan in a tough financial situation. Additionally, hospital bills and funeral expenses keep increasing.
Jen was a giver. She would have given the shirt off her back to those in need. Not just friends and family, but Jeni worked in the human service field for years as a caregiver, social worker, and therapist. She helped so many people when they needed it most. Dan is one of the nicest, most helpful, fun loving guys you will ever meet. Now, it is our time to give back to them. Please consider a financial donation to help with some of the end-of-life expenses that burden Dan after Jeni’s illness and passing. Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. If you can’t afford anything that is ok too~ just think of a time you spent with Jen and smile, say a prayer or send positives vibes for Dan, the boys, and their family. Thank you so much!
There is an account connected to this for Dan where the donations will go directly.
A celebration of Jen’s life will be held in Minnesota later, date to be determined.
