Celebrate Amy's Impact: Birthday Gift Fund

Don protégé
Amy's Community!

Egads, it's 2025! You're receiving this because you're part of Amy's community. I've enjoyed a front-row seat to the healing and community-building work Amy's been engaged in since Inauguration Day. It's been a bumpy several weeks but Amy is showing up, showing love for younger activists at WSU, and providing guidance to both those who look up to her and those she reports to.

Amy doesn't take praise easily always. She has no idea we're doing this. And, if you're like me, you realize our Amy is not just a bright woman of color in a time that is showing little love to bright women of color, she is on the front line. What a time to be her, to be the director of a women's center. She's accomplishing a lot. She's also feeling the pain.

THE GIFT
She has her eye on a gold Sophia Wallace clitoris, shown in the photo. Wanna help her feel some love? These beauties are spendy, but then again, Amy's got community and a birthday coming up. Her birthday is March 25th.

Take a look at some of the heart work she's been up to.

  • Landing Sophia Wallace for the Women*s Center's 50th Anniversary - Yes, this was both controversial and stirred up lots of grief for our Mother WC's death next door at U of I.
  • Co-leading WSU affinity center staff through a process that has resulted in a staff coalition moving toward a shared leadership model - Yes, some scary moments with leaders and a hand-slap for Amy. Nevertheless, she persisted and the proposal has been accepted!
  • Grabbing a gal pal to propose a new supervisor to get out from under white, male leadership. Yeah, he wasn't happy and tried his darnedest to throw her under the bus. Yes, she persisted and now has a new supervisor!
  • Getting the next generation to fall in love with women's center work. The WSU center is packed with young women and non-binary folx of color who not only relax there but are fired up and ready to join the movement. There are too many of these bright-eyed students to name, but believe me, they are in love with the space Amy is protecting.
  • Sitting on a panel at the Lewis & Clark Gender Studies Symposium to share the magic that is happening in our wheat fields with the PNW region. She gave our U of I mother center the due respect she deserves with tears and shared the joy of the women's center she stewards now. The audience was moved and it was beautiful to be in good company.
