As Many of you know, our dear friend, Carrie Tsakiris, has been battling colon cancer over the last two years. This battle has included two surgeries. One in Nov. 2020 and again in Feb. 2021. The recovery was very difficult but Carrie always felt the unending love from a wonderful husband and son and her family, along with a team of warrior friends by her side. She overcame!

Unfortunately, following a check up around Christmas time, it was discovered the cancer had returned and was from the original colon cancer. As a result, Carrie has been receiving chemotherapy treatments at Roswell Park since February to shrink the tumor to eventually prepare for yet another surgery. And once again she overcame!!

Her rock EJ and amazing son Drew, have sacrificed and with unwavering love, held steadfast through this storm. But it has come with a cost of diminished work hours and income, rising medical costs and overall financial stress!

So the final and biggest hurdle will happen with a very long and complicated surgery scheduled on July 19th. The stay in the hospital as well as recovery will also be long and difficult. Yet Carrie has chosen to see the positive in all of this. And if you know her, you can only imagine how difficult it is for her to accept help from anyone. But, now it is our turn to be warriors for her. To help in any way your heart allows you to. This family needs us. We are their friends in the hardest fight of their lives.

To quote Carrie, “I can’t imagine having to go through this alone. I have learned never to take one day for granted, say “I love you” often, and don’t skip your check-ups! It could save your life!
