Carrie’s Circle of Support

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Mary and I’m reaching out to you on behalf of my lifelong friend Caroline Leckey… originally Caroline Barry from Tooreen, Moyard. Caroline was diagnosed this year with triple negative breast cancer. The suddenness of the diagnosis has come like a hammer blow!

Her yearly mammogram last year showed nothing and at the time of diagnosis two months ago Caroline felt fit and healthy and had recovered well from a hysterectomy last year. Both of Caroline’s grannies and her mum passed away from breast cancer but even so she wasn’t eligible for genetic testing for BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations.

Caroline is unsure at the moment what the future holds but will obviously not be working for some time. It would mean so much if you could offer support and help alleviate the financial burden that accompanies such times. Donations will help Caroline focus on getting through whatever treatment lies ahead. No contribution is too small and your prayers and messages are equally cherished. Let’s come together to surround Caroline, her husband Ian and six children with love, compassion and support during this incredibly difficult time. Thank you for your generosity.

Caroline’s story in her own words…

“So on the 13 of March I was told I have cancer in a tumor found in my yearly mammogram. They went on to do an ultrasound where they found a second tumor, and would need to biopsy both areas and lymph nodes. That was done and I went back a week later, to be told I have an aggressive cancer called triple negative ductal cancer times 2. Doctor called them A and B both the same cancer but not related. Was then told the lymph nodes look clear but they were not happy with the appearance and a lot of fluid around the area. So I would need an MRI. Jump on another two weeks, after my MRI, I’m told the it showed up another lump, so I had another ultrasound and biopsy that same day. The ultrasound showed up not one lump but a cluster buried deep in the tissue, and went on to burst a blood vessel while trying to obtain a biopsy on one of the lumps. Jump on 2 weeks later - I was told I have 3 + of grade 3 triple negative cancer, but because they can’t look behind the 3rd area until I have a full mastectomy they can not tell me the full outcome. I will be having chemotherapy when I recover from surgery and within 2/3 weeks and then depending on lab results possible radiation. Other surgery to follow with the other breast when genetic results are back. I have a battle ahead which I am going to give my best shot. I want to live for me and my children . And kick this cancer in the …….. x”

Insanely beautiful skies over Ireland tonight caused by an increase in massive solar flares. It would appear the solar system is fighting alongside Carrie ❤️
