Help Carla finish nursing school and stay in Canada

Hi! My name is Naomi Twietmeyer. I’m a librarian in rural Saskatchewan.

My friend Carla G. needs your help. She is one of the best humans — hardworking, studying nursing, wonderful daughter and friend and an immigrant from Mexico. Carla is on a student visa in Canada and she recently learned that the Canadian government needs proof of $30,000 CDN before **the end of July 2025** … otherwise, she will be deported back to Mexico.

“I’m a young woman, a migrant to Canada, who left her home country at just 15 years old in search of a better life. Since then, I’ve been working hard, studying, and doing everything I can to build a future not just for myself, but for my family that has been there for me.

I’m currently an international student in my final years of nursing school. Becoming a nurse has always been my dream because I truly believe in caring for others and making a difference in people’s lives.

But now, I’m facing a difficult moment. In order to renew my study permit and continue my education, I need to show proof of $30,000 CAD to the Canadian government. Despite working three jobs while attending school and saving as much as I could, I’ve only been able to raise $4,000 on my own. My parents have done all they can to help, and together we have managed to gather $10,000. I still need $20,000 more to be able to apply for the permit and stay in school.

This is not easy to share, but I’m holding onto hope and asking for help. Any form of support whether financial or spreading the word, anything helps and means everything to me.
