Care for James Hession
James went in for an emergency hernia surgery on June 15th and while that surgery was a success, he suffered life threatening complications coming off the anesthesia. He stopped breathing.
They immediately put James on life support, using a ventilator and feeding tube and keeping him heavily sedated so the ventilator could keep him alive while he recovers from the surgery and regains the ability to breathe on his own.
As of Saturday, June 29th, two weeks since he entered Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, he's making slow progress in his recovery. He was able to communicate to us by blinking his eyes to a few yes or no questions, but he remains very weak and groggy.
We are holding this GoFundMe support drive to help James with his medical bills and support costs. Many of us live paycheck to paycheck and are all just one medical emergency from bankruptcy and/or financial hardship. James' financial situation is precarious at best and this event could have the potential to leave him in financial ruins. Let's help to avoid that or at least soften the blow when the bills come in.
We hope to raise an initial goal of $1000. He's required 1:1 care from nurses while in the hospital and we're anticipating medical bills to reflect this and all the other resources expended and devoted to James' care.
I am James's closest co-worker. We share an office together and spend basically 1/3 of our lives together Monday through Friday. In the 2 years I've known James, I've come to know him well, enjoy his company, and consider him an honorary brother of mine. He loves to laugh and make jokes and although a big guy, I'd say he has an ever bigger heart inside. It's my honor to ensure James gets 100% of the funds to go towards his bills and care. I only want the best for him, my friend, my work partner. I miss him, dearly, already.
Please keep James and his family in your prayers during this difficult time and please consider donating to his recovery as best you can and appropriate for your budget. Thank you and God Bless you for your care and contribution.
