Every child facing cancer is already a hero. But even the bravest warriors need reminders of their strength. Capes of Courage is a fundraiser and nonprofit initiative dedicated to delivering superhero-themed gift boxes to children undergoing cancer treatment at Corewell Royal Oak. Our mission is simple: to inspire joy, courage, and hope—one cape at a time.

This cause is deeply personal to me. I was diagnosed with Stage 3B Burkitt’s Lymphoma as a child, the fastest growing and most deadly form of lymphoma. I know what it feels like to spend days in a hospital bed, to lose your hair, your energy, and sometimes, your hope. But I also know the power of a small gift, a kind gesture, or a moment of joy to lift your spirits. I made it through, and now I want to give back to the hospital that helped save my life.

Each gift box includes a colorful superhero cape, toys, activity books, and a heartfelt note reminding kids that they are not alone—and that their bravery is something truly powerful. These boxes are designed to spark imagination, bring comfort during hospital stays, and give kids something exciting to look forward to on even their hardest days.
