Can’t afford to fix our only car!

Hi, my name is Chelsey. Between me and my partner, the only vehicle we have is a 2012 equinox. This thing has been having issues and is far worse than what we imagined. It’ll cost thousands to fix and with it being my partner’s only way to work, it’s urgent. They had him sign a waiver to even let it leave the shop, because it isn’t really road safe. And with that, my boyfriend is still having to drive it to work which is not ideal at all. The folks at the shop said if it does manage to get fixed, it should go about 3 years without needing anymore major fixes and would give us time to save for a new vehicle. The vehicle is pushing over 300,000 miles right now and has already been to the shop twice in the last two months.
