November of 2011, I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, Sarcoma Strommel. Unfortunately, this was my second occurance. By the time the doctors found my cancer the second time it was in stage 4 and my prognosis was 30 days to live. I was referred to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida where they specialize in Sacroma cancer. Surgery was performed in June 2011 to remove an 8 pound tumor resulting in a permanet urostomy and colostomy, and one non-functioning kidney.  Since the day of my cancer surgery, I have been hosptailized 10 times due complications as a result of radation and chemotherapy. The worst complication being reoccuring fistula's in my intestines that have prevented me from eating for months at a time until my body can withstand another surgery to the repair the fistula. In between surgeries and other medical complications I have been able to work at Publix in the Produce Department for short periods of time for only a few hours a week and I've loved and appreicated every minute of being able to work. Currently, I am physically unable to work due to complications that I have on a daily basis and the additional two tubes inserted into my kidneys. I have a large loving family that does everything they can to help me, however I live alone. I have outstanding medical bills and household expenses that I am struggling with. I receive a disability check each month, however it doesn't cover all of my monthly living expenses. Since my original diagnosis it has been a fight for my life.
