Help Fred Oliver and Family

Friday, November 24th, 69 year old Fred Oliver got lost in the woods after trying to take a short cut home from Lenox to his home in Washington. He left his van in an attempt to find a house to call for help. He spent 27 hours in temperatures varying from 27 to 50 degrees. He recently had heart surgery to treat his congestive heart failure and is dependent on oxygen. He also suffers from diabetes and has limited mobility. The family began to lose hope as the hours passed. State and local police, fire fighters, first responders, volunteers, and civillians did not give up the search. He was located by civillians, who were familiar with the area, around 6:45 pm 11/25. 

He was transported to Berkshire Medical Center where they began treating his hypothermia, but quickly sent him by helicopter to UMass Worcestor Hospital for more specialized treatment for frostbite. After losing his shoes in the woods, his feet were wrapped only in wet socks, so they were significantly frost bitten.

Due to Fred's previous medical conditions, his wife, Erika, is the sole provider for the family, working as a department manager at Sears in the Berkshire Mall--which is due to close in January. She is very concerned about how she is going to continue to pay bills while also caring for Fred, traveling back and forth from Worcestor and needing to find another job to sustain them. 

This GoFundMe is in effort to help take an ounce of financial burden off of Erika and the family as they deal with the difficult future ahead. Any donation is helpful.
