Brooks family attend father’s memorial in Canada

Hi, my name is Gabi Campos and I’m raising funds to help my best friend attend her father’s memorial service.

On April 2, 2023 my best friend, Katie Brooks, lost her father, Chad Brooks, to a tragic motorcycle accident that claimed his life. He was returning home to Covington, Texas after attending a Booze Fighter motorcycle club meet up in Houston when a drunk driver struck him with their jeep. Paramedics arrived on scene and worked tirelessly to save him, but unfortunately Chad passed away an hour later.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Chad, but from the stories Katie has shared with me, I know he was a great man. Hearing Katie gush about all the great times they had together and seeing her eyes light up when she talks about him is a testament to that. He was her world, her biggest supporter, just a really awesome dad.

Chad was originally from Canada and a lot of his family still resides there now. A memorial service will be held for him in Alberta, Canada where they will celebrate the life he lived and pay their respects.

Seeing my best friend go through a loss like that has been heartbreaking. I, along with Katie’s other friends ( Samantha Vargas and Kyle Anderson) , have been trying to figure out anyway that we can help make this loss easier for her and her family. After discussing airfare for a round trip to Canada with Katie, we saw an opportunity where we could help !

First, we’d like to remind everyone how dangerous and selfish it is to drink and drive. It’s not just your life you are putting at risk when you get behind the wheel and decide to drive intoxicated. No matter the circumstances, it’s not worth it. Please keep this in mind and learn from this tragedy!

Flights to Canada from Texas are currently ranging from $1,000-$2,000 dollars a person. Katie and her brother, Dustin, are faced with the financial burden of having to figure out how to pay for these flights so unexpectedly. It has caused extra stress that the Brooks family shouldn’t have to endure after the grave loss they are coping with.

We are asking if you have any money you’re able to spare to please consider donating to help fund their trip so they may attend their father’s memorial service. Katie is the sweetest soul with the kindest heart and she is always the first one to help when someone is in need. Now it’s our turn to help her and giveback to a person who gives so much of herself to others.
