Bring Octavio Valles home
Don protégé
My brother Octavio & I went on vacation to Chihuahua Mexico, one day prior to our scheduled departure we were on a tour of an old mine in Parral Chihuahua, as we were exiting the mine his head was stuck between the cage/elevator and a metal beam, the tourist guide panicked and was not able to react to stop the elevator, this caused my brother to hit his head multiple times as the elevator continued to move and his head continued to be pressed between elevator and beams. He damaged vertabrae C4 and lesion to the medulla which left him paralyzed. The tour was at the La Prieta Mine & they have not accepted liability, we transferred him via ambulance to the city of Chihuahua where he underwent surgery to replace C4, followed by complications of a perforated verticula and a collapsed lung. We have to pay hospital, surgeons & materials used during surgery before being allowed to bring him back to the USA. He is 50 yrs of age, father of 2 & grandfather to his 4 yr old princess. He is self employed, but is uninsured & being paralyzed he will require extensive therapy. He will not be allowed to fly, therefore efforts are in place to arrange for land travel to his home in Hacienda Heights. We lost our mother July17, 2017 & this trip was initially set to take her ashes to Mexico, although we decided to keep her with us, we decided to still take a week trip in her honor. Life changed in an instant and now I am left trying to figure out how to bring him home. I had to leave him in the hospital in Chihuahua at Star Médica, because I had to return to work. I plead for your support, any donation will be of great help.
