Bring back the spirit of the Horse Whisperer

Hello, my name is Rob and I am fundraising for my stepdaughter Alex.

She is an accomplished horseback rider and barrel racer with a lifelong passion for horses. Alex got her first horse Apache when she was 15 years old and immediately took to competitive riding. She and Apache had a very special bond as Alex embodied the "love your horse and he will do anything for you" training philosophy. . . and Apache did just that. . . win! Unfortunately, Apache slipped on some ice and fractured his hip thus rendering him lame and destined to be a pasture horse. Although she worked hard training another horse, none compared to Apache.

Fast forward throughout college, Alex struggled to find a horse that fit and bonded with her until she found Louie. After several years of training, he was ready to compete, and so was Alex. Once again, misfortune struck when Louie colic-ed (twist or blockage in the intestine) and, after a failed surgery, had to be put down.

Despite the loss of Louie, and the loss of another competitive horse, Alex still had the companionship of her original horse Apache and his pasture mate Memphis. These two horses would provide the healing love she needed to get past the loss of Louie.

Less than three weeks later, another tragedy would fall upon the shoulders of our dear Alex and leave her inconsolable. Yesterday she walked out to her pasture area, but neither horse was there waiting (immediate red flag). She saw Memphis at the pasture's edge, but he could not come to her calling him. She went to him and discovered why. When Alex walked up to Memphis, Apache lay dead from a gunshot wound to the face and Memphis had a leg injury that turned out to be nerve damage in the shoulder, the vet can not say just yet, but he may need to be euthanized. An ugly act of cowardice and calice to kill an innocent creature. Needless to say, our daughter is an emotional wreck and has now lost two and, and possibly, all three of her horses in three weeks, too much for one person to endure. Helping with Memphis' medical expenses is the best way to help her now...so please help us to help her.
