Brian's heart valve condition

My name is Valerie Dority. Growing up, I had the best brother and friend. Only 11 months apart, we were pratically twins! Even though he was the older sibling, I've always played the part of the "bigger" protective sister! We've been through alot together. Always looking out for one another. Through tough times, happy times and growing our families. Now is a time I feel he needs me the most. Times have been hard but have unfortunately gotten worse for Brian.
Just recently Brian wasn't feeling well and noticed a difference in his heart beat and had pain to his left hand. He went to the emergency room where they began treating him for pneumonia. After much blood work, doctors discovered that he had a heart infection and started antibiotics right away. Almost a week later, a camera and ultrasound found damage to two lobes/heart valves. He will remain hospitalized until antibiotics can show improvement to his heart. A minimum of 10 weeks. If after 4 weeks, there is no sign of improvement, he will need to undergo open heart surgery, further extending his hospitalization. At just 32 years old, you can imagine how frightening this can be.
He needs all the help he can get and all the support possible to help with his medical expenses and time away in the hospital.
He has a long road of recovery ahead and we want to see him better, healthier and back on his feet.
He will not be home for Christmas but I hope he will be back and better real soon.
