Breast cancer - Christy Juett
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jason Bartholomew, and I am raising funds for my sister, Christy, who was recently diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer. My family and I are assisting with medical expenses coverage and seeking additional support.
Christy is a mother of 7 children. She is 46 and works at a medical facility in Broken Arrow, OK. Daily, she continues to persevere through this arduous obstacle and maintain her strength because of her belief in God. She is a giving, caring, and loving sister who is always present if anyone in her life needs help.
As a retired veteran, I have seen many brothers, sisters, and loved ones face huge adversities. One of the things that has helped them overcome was the love and support they received from friends and family. I am hoping to show my support to my sister by helping her and her family weather this storm with minimal financial burden so she can focus on being healthy.
All funds raised will help cover medical expenses, including surgery, treatments, and post-op visits.
UPDATE 1:
Good morning everyone, Jason here. The night went well as long as she stayed on her pain management. She was able to remember how to empty her drain this morning. She's not bleeding badly either so that is good. She is very sore, especially where they took the lymph node out. I should hear if they got the cancer out and what will need to be done in 5 to 7 days. Within the next week she should get her appointments with her medical oncologist and in 4 weeks will start radiation once we hear from her radiation oncologist.
She starts the physical therapy part to make sure she don't get lymphedema in November. When we talked to the surgeon he said all her clips, including the Moli clips that marked the cancer spot, had migrated and they were sure that he got the cancer out. However, he said that there is a chance he didn't get the cancer at all, or that he just got a small margin. We will see what the report says from pathology. If there is still cancer then we need to get it out, of course. Her wish will be to do a mastectomy. There is a good chance the Indian Health services may not pay for that, so we will be saving up all we can in case we need to pay for it. This GoFund me has been amazing, already helping to pay for her medication that she needed yesterday. She wanted me to put this on here for you all to read:
"There is so many uncertainties in the air right now and so much I could fear or be completely at a loss about by. I am choosing to trust God in all this and try to look on the bright side of it all. I love you all so much and thank you all for the prayers."
I will update again when I hear more, and thank you all for your continued support!
Update 2:
Hey everybody, Jason here again. Christy has decided to move forward with a double mastectomy. Based off of a conversation with the surgeon, the surgery could happen on Nov. 1! Besides the 4 week recovery period, there is a chance she may need chemo based off her onco score of 22. There is a chance this score may go higher as well. Nonetheless, I would like to personally thank you all for your continued support, and will update you all again when possible!
