This time last year Brandon was kicking in Bev's belly. We didn't know it yet then but in just a few weeks we would have to say goodbye to our healthy and strong baby boy who was already growing ‘big and tall for his age’ according to our doctors.
On October 27, 2019—Brandon Quintana Nielsen was stillborn. Days later we were finally released from the hospital after it was safe enough for Bev and we went home with empty arms.
Stillbirth affects about 1 in 160 births each year in the United States. And the lives of 1 in 4 individuals and families are forever changed by the death of their children during pregnancy, at birth, or in infancy.
October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. If you or your loved one has lost a child to stillbirth, miscarriage, SIDS, or any other cause at any point during pregnancy or infancy, please join us in raising awareness this month and beyond. If you are unsure if you know anyone who has experienced this loss, you most likely do and it just hurts too much for them to share their story and grief with you at this time.
We are grateful for the time we had with Brandon. We are also immensely thankful for the love and support our family and friends continue to surround us with since he left this world to move on to his next form. We want to continue telling his story.
