Hola, mi nombre es Alexandra, tengo 25 años, soy de El Salvador, y hoy quiero compartir una parte muy difícil, pero también valiente, de mi vida.

Hace casi tres años fui diagnosticada con hipertiroidismo de difícil control médico. En ese proceso, se detectó un nódulo tiroideo clasificado como TIRADS 4, nódulo tiroideo y tiroiditis de Hashimoto. Los medicamentos no ayudaban a pesar de estar en dosis máximas (alrededor de 10 pastillas diarias) y mis médicos decidieron realizarme una tiroidectomía casi total.

Lamentablemente, en mi última cita postoperatoria, recibimos los resultados de la biopsia del tejido extraído, y el diagnóstico fue devastador: cáncer de tiroides. Ahora mis médicos me han indicado un nuevo tratamiento que incluye exámenes especializados, una segunda cirugía (tiroidectomía total), medicamentos y, al recuperarme de la cirugía, debo recibir terapia con yodo radiactivo, el cual tiene un costo elevado, superando mis posibilidades económicas y las de mi familia.

Es por eso que hoy, con toda humildad, acudo a ti a través de esta campaña de GoFundMe. Cada aporte, sin importar el monto, será una gran ayuda para poder recaudar el dinero necesario para los medicamentos, radioterapia y seguir luchando por mi salud.

Hi, my name is Alexandra, I’m 25 years old, I’m from El Salvador, and today I want to share a very difficult—but also courageous—part of my life.

Nearly three years ago, I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism that has been difficult to manage medically. During that process, a TIRADS 4 thyroid nodule, along with thyroid nodules and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, were discovered. Despite taking the maximum dosage of medication (around 10 pills a day), my condition did not improve, and my doctors decided to perform a near-total thyroidectomy.

Unfortunately, during my most recent post-operative appointment, we received the biopsy results from the removed tissue, and the diagnosis was devastating: thyroid cancer. My doctors have now recommended a new treatment plan that includes specialized tests, a second surgery (total thyroidectomy), medications, and, once I recover from surgery, radioactive iodine therapy, which is extremely costly and beyond the financial means of my family and me.

That’s why today, with great humility, I turn to you through this GoFundMe campaign. Every donation, no matter the amount, will be a tremendous help in raising the funds needed for my medications, radiotherapy, and my continued fight for health.
