Bob's Treatment

This is my husband Bob. We married May 25th this year. We found out a week later that he has stage 3 colorectal cancer.
What should've been honeymoon weeks were spent at doctor appointments, specialists, Colonoscopies, MRI's, Pet Scans, blood work, tests...all to reveal the inevitable.
After seeking a second opinion at the Cancer Treatment Center of America outside Chicago, we knew it was the best of the colorectal cancer field, and it was where we wanted him to be.
His treatment plan will include 5 initial weeks of chemotherapy and radiation to keep the tumor from growing outside the lymph nodes, followed by a surgery to remove the tumor, then another 5 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation, and then another surgery to reconstruct his colon.
Bob is a hard working and dedicated Brant's driving instructor loved by many. He obviously can not continue to provide quality instruction to both young and rehabilitated drivers while undergoing such a progressive treatment plan. Therefore, he will be taking a leave from his job. He is a proud man, but I have no hesitation in asking for help and getting him the best medical care possible.
I fully intend to spend the rest of my life with this man, my best friend. I intend to see this man in the stands, cheering on his wife- coach of the Lady RAMS. Or co-raising the 6 amazing kids we have between us. I intend to fight over the remote, or find another room to sleep in when he's snoring so loudly that I want to hit him with a shovel, make him eat better, drag him to the gym, and drive him NUTS.
