Bobcat Lacrosse is a fledgling program and is really different from the rest of the teams in Tennessee. The make-up of our team is predominantly African American and Hispanic. To say the least this is not the traditional snapshot around here.
We're heading into season number two. There's now a core on this team that have played the game, are learning and are becoming more and more engrossed by its speed and finesse as well as its physicality and power. They have already played a season, some did summer league as well. They've progressed significantly.
It's an expensive proposition to fund a sports team.
I took on this mission because I felt it was the right time and place to bring a different group into the game in this region.
I have had a life long passion and involvement in the game. I've played and coached at the highest levels from New York where I grew up to Australia, where I was selected to play for the 82' Aussie World Team and now back in Tennessee where I founded the league everyone plays in and had nationally ranked teams and won championships. I am still recognized by many as the 'daddy' of Tennessee lacrosse and called 'The Lacrosse Guy'. Many of the teams in the Nashville region owe their origin to my efforts. Over 25% of the teams in the state were directly influenced by my passion for the game, my blood, sweat and tears. I even coached several of them for some period of time.
Here's a list:
Montgomery Bell Academy
Brentwood HS
Father Ryan HS
Franklin HS
Hillsboro HS (Metro)
Webb School (Bellbuckle)
Sumner Cnty (Hendersonville)
Christ Presbyterian Academy (Warriors)
University School of Nashville
Overton HS
Woodland MS
Your help would be invaluable to the development of this group and the great game they are in the midst of expanding.
The following is how I feel about this game and what I share as an impetus to every kid I have coached and coach currently…
