About 2 months ago, almost right after Spencer turned 10, he started having fevers. They would last for a few days or a week at a time, go away for a week, but then always come back. He started out having no other symptoms. As the fevers kept returning, Spencer started having other symptoms. At one point we were in the ER in the middle of the night because he was seeing spots and nearly passed out. A few weeks ago we went to the Doctor and had his blood drawn. Some of his levels were low, but not horrible. The Doctor drew blood again a few days later and the levels were starting to go back in the right direction. We checked blood the next week and they looked even better. The very next day, Spencer had another fever and was complaining of back pain. As the week went on Spencer’s back pain became more severe and he started to look pale again. The Doctor drew more blood and his levels were lower than they had been yet. He admitted Spencer that night (Wednesday, December 27th). Testing started right away that night with blood cultures and an MRI. Because Spencer had a cough he couldn’t lay still and they had to sedate him the next day for a repeat MRI. The MRI didnt really show anything. The next day they did a bone marrow Biopsy because of his low blood levels and some concerning looking cells. The Bone Marrow Biopsy came back that night with a Diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). This is the most common and treatable Leukemia there is. The success rate is very high. The funds will be used to ease some financial burden due to all the medical expenses the family will incur. Thank you so much for your donation and God Bless!!!!
